The king and the midnight sun

There was a king who lost his kingdom
His treasures all broken and gone
He went to find a new purpose
In search of the midnight sun

As the king arrived, broken and lost
At the house of the wise one
Asking what to do now that his kingdom was gone
She told him how he could go on:

"Your best effort
Thrown into the stream of what's to come
Keeps your head held high above the water
And thus you will not drown"

So out into the wild he went
Remembering hunting lessons lost
And for a time this is his life
To stay alive, whatever the cost

And in this raw he never knew
He finds what is given only to few
The sense of enough, and a life anew

For how can the wild beast smile
Without treasures, castles and kings?
It smiles because it is its own master
And the life in its blood, it sings

Now by the fire rests his smile
He breathes and lives again
He sees the midnight sun
For all the treasures he has lost

There is within his heart a kingdom won

Let the words spoken quietly by the fire be our melody:

"Happiness is in the ground beneath your feet
In what you now hold in your hands
It is not in the storms that are gone
And neither is it in the stars yet to be won

It is now, and now is always

Illumined by the midnight sun"
