The Drug To My Need

You have become a drug to my need,
an exotic delicacy I can often read.
In my world this is an entirely new sensation,
dispelling the darkness like a conflagration.

I jealously guarded my heart from cruelties,
from suitors advances and immoral ambiguities.
But I have fallen under the spell you will not rescind,
your words swirling around me like magical whirlwind.

Words that have become a cocoon that protects,
encasing and enveloping me in their caring affects,
gently, ever so gently my heart they caress,
with such depth they make love in soft and subtle progress.

This cannot be duplicated by imposters’ games,
the genuine connection has laid a lasting claim.
It is the warmth that authentically emanates from you,
even at great distances letting me know it is true.

What once was a lonely, one, now has become two,
the tentative touches of your words run me through.
Old injuries contract, a reminder that defends,
has now become the tell that mends.

The link between us grows strong,
as the days relentlessly continue on,
How do we stop what has commenced?
Do even want to undo what is being created?

Oceans of tears drowned my soul in the past,
injuries that threatened, my life to outlast,
forgiveness that for me would not come,
fade, because of the peace that with you, has begun.
