Opportunity Knocks

Opportunity Knocks...
 
This door is open but I darent go through it  
For it isnt a door in a wall?
This door is a trap door  
That if I enter I guess I will fall?
 
And its not very inviting,  
Instead it poses a threat...
Not sure if I'm keen to see  
With whom I'm gonna be met...
 
So I'll stay here on this side  
For this side feels safe and secure..
Not every door that opens  
Is an opportunity for sure!
 
This openings dark,  
Theres no light shining through...
No sunshine encouraging me,  
Inviting me to pursue...
 
The dream of a new life  
Or another chance to grow...
Think I'll just stay here,  
Better the devil you know...
 
Its not all that bad here  
In this familiar side
I'm on chartered territory,  
Theres no real reason to hide.
 
Yet still I'm often tempted  
To dip in my toes
But where this door leads?  
Well no one really knows...
 
So as temptations come  
And as temptations goes
Grounded I will stay,  
I like standing in my own shoes...
