When I was reading the book, Ringu, which was the original Japanese novel the "Ring" horror movies were based on, the first book has a wonderfully vivid description of the onset of the demonic presence that, panic attack-style, caused first paralysis, then a heart attack in the victim.
The thing I really like about it was how the author was able to describe a completely internal (and hallucinated experience) in a tangible, down-to-earth way.
