The Bar

The Bar

A woman walks into a mildly crowded bar and sits down at the bar itself all alone.
She lets out a sigh and turns off her phone.
No distractions, she wants to clear her head in her own little zone.
She’s had a terrible day and doesn’t want to deal with her husband’s scone.
She walked out of their home leaving him high and dry.
She couldn’t look him in the eye, didn’t even say goodbye.
What he did to her, she’s not sure she can forgive.
She might be on a path of forging a new life to live.

The bartender approaches asking her what she would like to drink.
She tells him something strong to help take away these negative thoughts she constantly thinks.
He nobs and departs to make her a drink as tears begin to fall steadily down her face.
Her heart is broken and she feels like such a disgrace,
not because of something she did, for the fact she put her trust in that man.
He was her life partner, at least that’s what she thought when their life together first began.

The bartender brings her the drink and she downs it immediately.
She asks for another one and tells him to make it even stronger than they one he just made previously.
He brings her two more drinks expecting them to go down just a quick as the first.
He tells her one is on the house since it seems her day as been just the worst.
She thanks him for his kindness and downs them both fast.
She has had a terrible day, you can read it on her face, no one even has to ask.

Out of the corner of her eye she notices a man approaching her.
She tries not too look at him since being alone is what is prefers.
He reaches her, smiles and asks if he can take a seat next to her.
She doesn’t say a word trying to deter.
He takes a seat anyways and asks the bartender to get him a strong drink and to bring her one as well.
The woman finally speaks and tells him he doesn’t have too and prefers to be left alone in her own personal hell.
The man says he will buy her just one drink and will leave after that if she wishes,
trying not to seem suspicious.

The woman turns to look at the man and sees that his smile is kind and infectious.
It’s a smile full of charisma and definitely not contentious.
He wears a nice dress shirt and pants in the color of black.
He supports a well-groomed goatee that she’s certain gets him a lot of positive feedback.
The bartender brings them both a drink and begins a tab for the man,
but the man interrupts and pays for the drinks saying he won’t be here long if everything goes according to plan.
A weird thing to say but the bartender accepts his cash and closes out the tab.
Probably for the best he thinks, since if this woman continues to drink the way she’s going, she will need to get a cab.

“Thank you for the drink, you didn’t need to buy me one.
I’m sure talking to me won’t be much fun.”

“You look like you’ve had a rough day and need a friend to talk to and lean on.
I’m just hear to make sure you hope in life isn’t completely gone.
Those tears falling from your eyes tell me something bad happened today.
Its your choice if you want to tell me or not, but getting it off your chest might brighten up your day.”
The woman thinks about it for a minute, then decides it doesn’t sound like the worst idea.
She can run it by him first before she breaks the news to her best friend maria.

“I found out my husband has been cheating on me with a good friend of mine.
Turns out they have been doing it for months, I can’t believe that bastard’s spine!
She’s single, attractive and younger of course.
The only way I see this ending, is through divorce.”

“That is a terrible secret to uncover.
Makes you feel like he didn’t take you seriously as a wife, friend and lover.”

“It makes me feel terrible and completely unwanted!
I think I will forever be haunted
by being betrayed by the man I loved!
I hope when he dies, he stands in front of God and is harshly judged!”

“That may happen, but I do have an idea at how you can get some kind of revenged against him right now for what he did to you.”

The woman looks at the man suspiciously expecting him to try to pick her up.
He’s just like every other man, welcome to the club.

“Let me guess, you want me to sleep with you to get revenge for him cheating.
If that’s the case, I’m going to tell you, you are wasting your time and that it’s my time of the month and I’m really bleeding.”

“It’s not me I’m going to suggest you sleep with.
I wouldn’t even be the second option, or the third, fourth or fifth.
If you really want to get him back, you sleep with his best friend.
That will hurt him deep, just as you intend.
You can film it too and send him the tape.
His opinion on what he has done to you will definitely take a different shape.”

“That is a great idea for getting revenge and I am feeling drunk but I could never do a thing like that.
Besides, his best friend doesn’t like me like that so your plan already falls flat.”

“I assure you he does lust after you.
He’s here in this bar fight now and if you turn your head a little to the right he will come into your view.
He’s been staring at you since I sat down next to you, a little jealous I’m sure,
but his jealousy of me is a little premature.”

The woman turns her head to her right and notices her husbands best friend smiling at her.

She turns back to the strange man and speaks, “are you fiends with him or something?
Did he put you up to this, to help him try to hook up with him?”

“I’m not his friend but I do know him a little bit.
I also know your husband as well I will admit,
but I’m not here on the behalf of either one of them.
I’m here to help pick you back up from out of the slum
you find yourself in, since your husband betrayed you and destroyed your heart.
You deserve to have a night of fun, get a little revenge and begin a new life with a fresh start.”

“Thank you for the drink but I think it’s time for me to leave.
I don’t need to be going home with Kyle, I need to go to my friend’s house to grieve.
Hurting my husband like he hurt me isn’t something I care to do.
Thanks for the company, I’m leaving to go see my friend Sue.”

The woman gets up from her seat to leave the bar.
The strange man gets up with her and positions himself in front of her before she gets too far.
He looks her in the eyes and she stops walking.
Now that he has her full attention, he begins talking.

“Sarah, you are going to walk over to Kyle and take him up on his offer to take you home.
He will film your night together of combining chromosomes.
That film will be delivered to your husband who will watch it in horror.
You two will then divorce and go your separate ways with you winning the divorce thank to having the better lawyer. “

Sarah nods and walks over to Kyle, who grabs her hand and leaves the bar with her.
The strange man departs knowing what is about to occur.
