Van Halen
with apologies to Edgar Alan Poe
Once upon a midnight dreary
Wearing my ear buds
Tired and weary
While nodding, nearly napping
There came a tapping
A tap, tap, tapping on his fret
The tune, I didn't know, but it was a good bet
That Eddie was on the stage
A God, like Hendricks, or Clapton, or Page
The crowd erupted in applause
It was that tap, tap, tapping that was the cause
A chant rose up from the floor
They yelled, "Eddie, forevermore"
"Eddie, forevermore"
Somewhere on a stage in the clouds
There's a guitar shredding clear and loud
Then a tap, tap, tapping upon the frets
Even up there, it's as good as it gets
In unison the angels praises outpour
"Eddie, forevermore"
"Eddie, forevermore"
Once upon a midnight dreary
Wearing my ear buds
Tired and weary
While nodding, nearly napping
There came a tapping
A tap, tap, tapping on his fret
The tune, I didn't know, but it was a good bet
That Eddie was on the stage
A God, like Hendricks, or Clapton, or Page
The crowd erupted in applause
It was that tap, tap, tapping that was the cause
A chant rose up from the floor
They yelled, "Eddie, forevermore"
"Eddie, forevermore"
Somewhere on a stage in the clouds
There's a guitar shredding clear and loud
Then a tap, tap, tapping upon the frets
Even up there, it's as good as it gets
In unison the angels praises outpour
"Eddie, forevermore"
"Eddie, forevermore"
