Incapable of loving...

I'll tell you I love you,
And it's probably the truth,
If I say nothing happened with her,
I may be lieing, but i'll blame my youth,
When you threaten to leave,
I'll likely guilt you into staying,
Eventually you'll accept the fact im shameless,
And that I'm the cause of your low self worth,
I might propose at some point,
Just to make you feel secure,
Though the reasons won't be genuine,
As im simply not that caring,
For these are the games I play,
With your heart, In my hands,
Though you shouldn't of left it with me,
For im incapable of loving...

I really like this poem. It perfectly captures the manipulation and mindgames that are played so often when "love" is involves. I picture a victum of emotional abuse at the hands of her so called lover, whom she just can't seem to break free from. It's almost haunting because it rings so true.

Thank you, that is how I intend it to be read, rather than a reflection of myself, a generalisation of society today and the mind games played by lovers and the control one person can impose on another...
