It Arrives in Waves

Standing before the beachside.
Gazing upon the terrors inside.
Watching my life flash by.
Wondering what went wrong and why.
How it came to be.
Me standing here over the sea.
I know I have made some slips.
My world has taken many turns and tips.
What I see is my past.
My story played in a cast.
This vision of me I see.
Is truly a sight of pity.
I'm falling apart piece by piece.
Unable to attain any peace.
I want my sorrow to wash away.
It is unwelcome to stay.
Why will it not go?
I'm already feeling low.
It's something I already know.
Must this haunt me so?
The reflection of my tale.
Makes me realize I'm off trail.
Eventually will come the flood.
Then I'll fall down for good.
