Back to a time when...

This girl was void of fear,
Loved purely and openly,
Believed she could grow old with a childhood sweetheart,
Didn’t realise her own strength,
Didn’t know what strength she would need to find,
Had no idea people were talking about her when they gave compliments,
Didn’t know what a glass half full was,
She worked so hard she burnt herself out,
Was afraid of lack - just as she was taught,
Actually, was afraid, but of failure, not hurt.
Now, she refuses to fail.

While hoping not to hurt.
