I swear I can see the green and brass in this one. And while i'm not the least familiar with Buddhism, I do hope a bowl discovers you soon.
You and the poem do a great job of directly engaging the reader by leading off with the statement / question. It stands alone on its own two feet ( or bowel bottom ). The visual aspect is more icing on the cake than anything, but a perfect image compliment nonetheless. You always choose wisely with that natural photog's eye.

Dear A,
Hmm. I’m riveted and fascinated by this thought and process. So existentially if I let go of something I love something I love equally or even better will find its way to me? Does this transfer to people? That’s what I am really asking. Profound and informative write. H🌷

Re. The Singing Bowl
This is a wonderful piece... Very contemplative and profound...
I guess, singing bowls are as unique as we are... Each individual has their own distinctive singing bowl... This poem applies to many aspects of our life.... The most important one being Love...so when we set out on a quest to find our Mr/Miss right and discover them, we may feel that it's we who have discovered love. But in reality it's love that has sought out us....
It holds true for many things as well...
Btw, I had heard about singing bowl before but never knew about it in detail... So I Googled it when I saw your poem... And now I'm really fascinated by it... I guess, I need one...
Thanks a lot for sharing this great piece. 😊

Re: Re. The Singing Bowl
Thank you, Rohini! ❤
I love singing bowls and have always wanted one, so hurriedly ordered one in relation to my heart chakra ( green ) without really studying up on them in depth ( big mistake ). It would not sing. No matter what I did; it would not sing. I was confounded.
After much research and digging to the bottom of annals, I came to discover that one cannot just 'order' a singing bowl ( unless they are highly intuitive or lucky! ) because the singing bowl selects you. Thus, one should always shop in person for a bowl, and try it before buying.
I read one story that just warmed my heart about a lady who had tried three to no avail, and thought something was wrong with her. That wasn't it; according to a spiritual master; her level of vibration was a very high one; therefore, her bowl needed to match her vibration. After a year or so she said she just gave up looking. Then one day in an antique store, she saw a beautiful old one in the back.
The clerk told her that no one could get the bowl to sing, and he'd had it for years. One couple wanted it for a fruit bowl, and he refused to sell it, saying the purchaser had to make it sing. Long story short, she was very hesitant, but by the time she picked it up she said she could already feel its vibration. . .and when she struck it, it was the loudest resonation she'd ever heard, and the song was so loud, and vibrated so hard, glass rattled in cases.
She said it was the most spiritual moment of her life, knowing that bowl had been there for years, waiting for her, knowing that one day she would walk through the door of that shop and find it.
That will be me too. I can feel it in my spirit.
And, yes to your question about love. We do not choose love; on the contrary, love chooses us if it finds us worthy. As the great Poet Gibran says in "On Love" from the Prophet.
Thank you for your support! xo

That's a fascinating story...thanks for sharing it with me.😊
I'm sure, you will find yours soon..
I,too, want one now as I have read that it has healing properties... And I'm in a dire need of healing; physically and mentally...
But, I don't think so that singing bowls are available in shops in my city.

Re: Re. The Singing Bowl
Rohini, if you use your intuition to order one, you should be fine. I didn't use my intuition because I thought they worked for everyone; I wasn't aware there had to be a spiritual connection between you and the bowl. Just make sure you order from a company that doesn't mass manufacture for profit vs healing intent. Hand hammered and blessed by Tibetan and Buddhist monks are the best. Hindus believe that the world began with a sound, and thus sound plays a very important role in our bodies and in the universe as a whole. I can't imagine them not being available somewhere in India. Perhaps Uma could help you in that regard?
Also, there are typically ceremonies of healing and harmony where the bowls are used; you might want to look into attending some, if available during this pandemic.
I will keep you in love and light until yours discovers you! <3

I absolutely love them, Daisy! I have been to so many ceremonial services where they were played. I've never felt led to own one until recently; and I botched that royally! LOL! I gifted it to someone, so hopefully it's found its home. If not, then they have to let go and pass it on, or keep it if they feel led, until it's owner arrives.
You're right that this can apply to a broad spectrum of life and love, thus the metaphor theme!

The bowl sings in monasteries and homes if the mind is receptive to its message. The bowl knows the person listening and will address whatever need exists. It’s rare not common. Most think it ridiculous. I believe psychics of the East Are far advanced as opposed to the west. You have obviously read of Tibet as I have to write this beautiful piece. 💕❤️🙏

I agree in respects to those who are listening, the heart has to be open to receive the divine blessing of vibrational message. Those who are playing will be blessed as well if they're intent is pure and they're receptive to the divine.
The west thinks they're socially and spiritually advanced; they're anything but. Thank you and Namaste! 🙏

This probably isn’t the place for this but... may the songs of the spirit world from whatever source lift you mind toward the light, Satori is the goal but mindfulness is the path...🐭

I am SOOOOO jealous of your collection! There are some great shops in Charlotte and Ashville I want to hit up if ever this pandemic would pass.
My mala beads hang from my laughing Buddha's hand. I have a standing one whose arms are elevated in praise; they're wrapped around one of his palms. They seem right at home there!
Thank you, Harry. Much appreciated.

I LOVE him, Harry! He always makes me smile when I look at him. I had never seen one like this before. It's hand carved wood and I just love his stance! Like "whoo hoooo!" I also rub his belly daily! :D
I wish the markets here would pick up; unfortunately, I haven't been to one in ages, but would love to go into the outskirts of the city. There are also a couple of really good shops in the heart of the city where I know my singing bowl lives!

Wood carved are the best...wood has that life-feel that other materials do not. I hope you get to a market soon A...and I know that there is a beautiful singing bowl just waiting for you my friend.

This poem sings, and with it your inspiring stories vibrate in the over- and undertones.
I love how you hit your metaphorical green and golden* bowl with the first line: "chooses you" — and send it off into space with the question that follows.
If I may make one small suggestion, I'd delete the third line: "I did not" and the "but" on line seven. Taking those four words out, you may find, they are spoken in silence, riding on the breath of the tone you struck and make the song carry further without unnecessary obstructions.
Best luck with finding each other.

VB
*From my limited experience with singing bowls, the gold content in the alloy has a special influence on the bowl's voice too.
And yes, it makes sense that 'online dating' may not work well with singing bowls.

Hi, Veronika! And welcome to DU. I can only hope that you are the other half to our highly-revered Josh?! What a wonderful addition to DU you will make.
I appreciate your time and fine eye combing this piece for improvements. Gifts of time are the most precious we can receive, and I do appreciate them. I would agree with your first suggestion on line 3. It would be implied, being I did purchase one that did not sing. I am unsure about the 7th line, however. I feel there needs to be some type of contrast, but I will definitely keep it in the back of my mind and see what surfaces.
You're absolutely right about the singing bowl's metal. There are so many mass manufactured ones vs the hand-hammered ( being blessed while hammering ) bowls of renowned song. I didn't use my intuition because I wasn't aware the bowl chose you at the time I purchased it. I was simply going for the color and symbol of the heart chakra.
I'll know better next time; however, I truly feel I will find mine in the most unusual of places, i.e. - garage sale, off the wall antique store, etc. So I am really holding back from purchasing another online. The person I gifted it to felt so blessed to receive it, and had always wanted one.
I haven't heard if it's sung yet~!
Thank you again, and welcome to DU!
I am very anxious to get to read your work and know you!

Hi Ahavati,
you guessed correctly, I am the (so far silent) 'other half' of Josh (who seems to have made quite a splash on DUP).
And many thanks for the warm welcome to this wonderful community.
Many years ago I once received a ticket to a 'singing bowl concert' as a birthday gift, and I remember the 'performer' instructing us to close our eyes while he walked to every single person in the audience, moving a particular bowl from his collection around our heads. He explained about the gold content, and through the intensity and pitch the whole room felt as if it was transformed into a golden dome. Unforgettable.

Happy to welcome you into the fold, Veronika! Maybe you will want to become a Team NaPo Member as well! Josh is already a member, and we have an opening!
Attending those events is exactly what made me want my own singing bowl. I love sound healing, it's so peaceful and seems to resonate directly with the soul, as though tuning the body to its rightful frequency!
Mine will come, undoubtedly! I look forward to celebrating that soon! Happy to know there are others here who understand the power of the bowl too! xo

Not sure I'd be suitable as a Team NaPo Member, but thanks for the confidence!
I'm not even a poet – officially – but a storyteller (writer of prose and non-fiction)!!!
These poems I'm posting here so far, they have only popped out since I entered the force field of DUP 😁
Who would have thought... I don't want to push my luck.
And you're right about the "but" in line 7. Maybe it should stay.

HAHAHAHA! Well, if you can pop out those poems in just a week or so, imagine what you could do in 30 days of pure, unadulterated inspiration! We had a few team members who couldn't actually participate in the challenge due to personal reasons last year; but, they still wanted to be a par to the team. They worked behind the scenes keeping things coordinated while we exhausted ourselves! LOL!
It's amazing what we discover about ourselves when in the presence of inspiration that our spirit recognizes as true, isn't it? xo
