snow on distant shores

Echoes of the wind
Spinning gracefully they bend
Brittle the snaps
And the scent of the many cracks.

Whirlwind and the foam
Splashes as the tides moan
Never changing patterns
Rhythmic are its only concerns.

Upon distant beach
Kneeling as far as her reach
Brown with auburn tones
Breathe, she so owns.

Mirrored are the shadows
Casting down as through windows
Peeking out over gloomy white
As winter moves in the air tonight.

Past are the autumn chills
Old sweaters of no frills
Pastel in colors of  blue
Her memory, oh, she knew.

Snow cast on distant shore
Images lifeless and more
Driftwood  with colors so grey
In my head they stay.
