Firecracker

Oh firecracker, firecracker burns so bright,
All too quickly in the dark of night,
For a brief moment you lit up the sky,
With an almighty bang off you go way up high,
Like an exploding star in space,
Never wanting more than smiles on their face,
Your brief existence here on earth,
Giving children great joy and mirth,
Showing off colours so bright and bold,
Childhood memories worth more than gold,
Held on into their sleep,
Leaving them with a smile
Never making them weep,
Just very happy for a while.
