Down with the ship

I am empty when your heart aches.

Yet selfishly I capitalize when your heart breaks.

Love often seems an up hill battle.

Darlin loving you was "rough in the saddle"

Plenty of fish in the sea so they say.

An endless ocean of choices and chances.

But of all the ladies to make my day.

I miss all our awkward glances.

Isn't it sad, losing grip?

Or staying on a sinking ship?

You don't stay for fear of drowning.

No an urge to hold on to what we know keeps us in place.

The water rises to our knees.

We know the water will soon wash over us.

You so stern and serious and me the one crying.

But still we remain left to wonder one last thing.

Is it fear of leaving or loving that keeps us from trying?

Author's Note
Just another attempt to put my feelings into poem from a time when I was in love, like really in love. And it had been a while so I figured I'd try and channel it into my two favorite passions. Crying and water.
