Luck - Fate - Chance - Life

After a while relationships run their course
Love, like a car, runs out of fuel
The empty light comes on
To let us know
It's over
First the feelings, then the memories
Begin to fade
But I wanted a chance
Just to see her
If I could
One in a million, just maybe
She would be out working in her garden,
Walking her dog,
Standing in the yard talking to her neighbor,
Checking the mail
A chance to see her
From a distance,
But all was still, there was
No sign of life
As I drove slowly past the house
Of the woman who used to love me

Author's Note
About a relationship years ago and how I didn't want to talk to her, no need to rip the scab off an old wound, but still I just wanted to see her, I drove by her house from time to time hoping, but really hoping not to see her. Mixed emotions back then. It was better for everyone to just let the light go out.
