Luck - Fate - Chance - Life
After a while relationships run their course
Love, like a car, runs out of fuel
The empty light comes on
To let us know
It's over
First the feelings, then the memories
Begin to fade
But I wanted a chance
Just to see her
If I could
One in a million, just maybe
She would be out working in her garden,
Walking her dog,
Standing in the yard talking to her neighbor,
Checking the mail
A chance to see her
From a distance,
But all was still, there was
No sign of life
As I drove slowly past the house
Of the woman who used to love me
Love, like a car, runs out of fuel
The empty light comes on
To let us know
It's over
First the feelings, then the memories
Begin to fade
But I wanted a chance
Just to see her
If I could
One in a million, just maybe
She would be out working in her garden,
Walking her dog,
Standing in the yard talking to her neighbor,
Checking the mail
A chance to see her
From a distance,
But all was still, there was
No sign of life
As I drove slowly past the house
Of the woman who used to love me
