a demon's prayer
darkened night raven's claw
a demon's prayer is uttered on the winds
silently the shadows gather
the horde is near I can feel them---
I saw the fall coming
long before I succumb
inside the crimson heat
spiraling out of control
mania ruled the day
and madness the night
demons crack my thin facade
relentless beasts of dread
pushing deeper and deeper into my mind
all to separate fact from fiction
a craven soul of bitter faith
they deduced my sin without hesitation
collecting their due as they went
a feeding frenzy ensued
lusting my darkened greed
they clank their cups against the metal bars
of my personal asylum
demanding a feast
a corrupt soul they did plunder
the goods to trade my precious sanity
I would earn my right to be heard
they wield my pen like a switchblade
slash, cut, dice without mercy
I cackle with delight
a wicked sense of humor
my tormentors seemed angels of mercy
to this day I know not the in-between
it is a demon's lot...a fight to be seen
when the phantasmal materializes
sweet bitter regret...
I miss my demons ofttimes
not far from home now
gathering just at the perimeter
it's scrying time again will thou hear them?
