to be or not to be?

King's Daughter,
You were right, I was being selfish,
and never really cared about you.
But, what I did care about was for a long lasting friendship.
I allowed myself to be a smooth operator.
Always being supercilious
and blamed you for things you didn't do.
I imagined the worst about you;
and in my pride, I didn't realize that
 you're worth more than how you imagine yourself in your dreams.

King’s Daughter,
Do you remember I said I didn't care about
how people assumed the worst of you?
How you complained of people talking about us?
Well, that was the wrongest of things to say.
In reality, you shouldn't have been spoken ill of.
I could have ended all that,
Given you the space you needed.
Instead, I kept hitting hard like a woodpecker on your tender back.

King’s Daughter,
I have come to see the truth.
After months without you,
I realize now that I never did love you. II thought I did.
Rather, I traded true friendship for unhealthy desires.
And yeah, I'm having some sort of déjà vu.
I guess experiences suffered as a child
has a way of twisting one into being an oddity.

King’s Daughter,
I ask that you forgive me
for being the bad guy I've claimed to be.
I don't want you to say you've forgiven me,
and still your lips, unable to mention my name.
I don't want your eyes holding grudges against my presence.
I know things can't be the same as they once were.
But, I believe things can be better.

King’s Daughter,
please think of all the good things you thought I did;
and the good times you thought we had.
and try not to see the darkness glued to my heart.
In the end, I hope to be better, with you my best friend.
