Mind Over Heart Matters
Use your mind more than your heart when deciding to commit
That's an effective way to minimize the amount of bullshit
Sit and analyze the girl or guy that currently has your eye
Think long and hard then decide if they're worthy of your time
Don't let love blind you to the truth that lies before your eyes
Utilize your third eye to see those wearing disguises
Never share your pie with anyone who only has an appetite
Make them contribute to the table before they take a bite

I completely agree. Great flow, Damon! Reminds me of something I wrote awhile back... not a poem just writings. I'll share it with you here:
Why should I make decisions through logic, rather than through heart? Because the mind can look into the future and the past, contemplate, and make complex and rational decisions, weighing the current based on many factors and memories - and THEN deciding whether the decision is good or bad and whether the heart agrees or disagrees with it. Though, I find, it requires a little bit of both sometimes - and sometimes it's hard to decide how much you want to let the your heart intervene. That part is always up to you if you stay logical.

It definitely sounds logical to utilize the mind over the heart but it is much more difficult to actually do so. I can attest to that from past experiences.

But the greatest of these is love (some Biblical person said--maybe Jesus?). My uncle wrote once: "People don't want facts in making up their minds. They'd rather have one good, soul-satisfying emotion than a dozen facts. This battle your thought-provoking poetry evokes is ancient and universal--mind over heart. And in the end they are the two sides of the same thing. Thank you, as always, for putting my mind to work.
