Doubt
Self assuming dear doubt,
I have something to tell you.
So needed yet so unnecessary
You persuade the stone;
Dissuade the flesh
Entirely on your own.
You infiltrate the calm;
Spy on chaos, never alone
You settle for destroying lives
while fully capable of destroying civilizations overnight.
You’re a rogue wave, in a sea of emotion,
Racing toward the nearest ship
You never fail to attend an occasion;
The perfect guest, punctually speaking.
You keep me from wandering;
Can’t stop wondering.
You return the dreamers,
Dispel believers.
You claim to protect that which you hurt.
Is that because you care or you don’t?
I doubt it.
I have something to tell you.
So needed yet so unnecessary
You persuade the stone;
Dissuade the flesh
Entirely on your own.
You infiltrate the calm;
Spy on chaos, never alone
You settle for destroying lives
while fully capable of destroying civilizations overnight.
You’re a rogue wave, in a sea of emotion,
Racing toward the nearest ship
You never fail to attend an occasion;
The perfect guest, punctually speaking.
You keep me from wandering;
Can’t stop wondering.
You return the dreamers,
Dispel believers.
You claim to protect that which you hurt.
Is that because you care or you don’t?
I doubt it.
