WHATEVER WAY
On the edge,
balancing between
either side.
I could just dribble
out pages of lines
that meant not much,
try to convince you
that I’m tuning into
my poetic source, or
I could take a
moment to contemplate,
to be inspired,
naturally create
something out of
nothing.
I could then sit
here and say,
see!
For a while I think
I’ll just balance here,
in between real and unreal,
expressing how I feel
whatever way.
Open spaces
encompassing vastness,
isolation,
self imposed separation
from everyone else.
Something new -
away from the realms
of the lounge room,
the dripping tap
in the kitchen
and the urine splattered
bathroom floor.
Far away from
the concerns of TV guides,
late night snacks
followed by brushed teeth.
Taking a pen,
marking a page
on an adventure
into another realm.
A place where
images can be created,
sounds reproduced
through rhythm and play.
A place where the self
is free to do and say
anything at all.
I’m going there now.
