Its EASTER WEEK Already !!

Its Easter Week already !!
So let me deal with a Bible passage that relates to Easter.
Christ was arrested Thursday night.
He was taken to the house of the high priest (Luke 22.54).
He was put into a holding cell in the basement of that house.
It has been preserved to this day.
(The house is gone but the basement is still there.)
And because it is below the surface of the ground it qualifies as "the heart of the earth."
That is important because Christ said "the Son of Man will spend ..3 nights in the heart of the. earth" (Matthew. 12.40).
People think "heart of the heart" refers to the tomb.
And the nights He spent there. But they are WRONG !
For Christ spent only 2 nights in the tomb.
For He was crucified on Good Friday and He rose on Sunday morning.
There are only two nights between those two points.
So we are FORCED to look for an additional night - a night in which Christ was below the surface of the ground.
And Thursday night fits that requirement.
For the basement cell was below the surface of the ground.
Why do I know about this overlooked part of the story ??
Only because i took part in a tour of the Holy Land in Feb-March 1973.
The group i was with visited the jail cell that Christ was kept in.

If anyone tells you Church Tradition (that Christ was crucified on Good Friday) is wrong, don't believe them.
They are claiming the crucifixion occurred on Thursday (or even Wednesday).
They have no evidence for this.
They only do this because they think Matthew 12.40 requires it.
 It does NOT !!

PS: According to a computer enhancement of the Shroud of Turin, Christ was wearing a leather strap
around His arm, the kind that contains a folded page of scripture in a small box.
That was a common practice among the Jews of Christ's day, and still is today.
