My apology

I wish I could prove how much I care.

And when you left you took the light that brightened my world.

And when I was with you, I wanted to be better, but it wasn't easy.
I never wanted to lie or be the reason for your tears.
But you brought out a me I didn't know existed and made me face my fears.

You saw the person that I could be so you tried to stay with me.
And I took it all for granted. So now I'm sad and lonely.
I miss the times when we just chilled and I held you in my arms.
And I'm sorry that I broke my promise to keep you away from harm.

I miss the movie nights you tolerated cause it was something I wanted to do.
And the times we laid there with nothing else to say but, "I love you."
This is the relationship that will always make me stop and think;
What could you and I have been if I was a better me?"
