Even She Cries Sometimes

She is
Beauty, bright, alive
So enchanting
Like the work of a magicians hand
She is a hidden gem
So softly uncovered
By a lonesome wanderer
A treasure
She is

Strong, she is
So sensitive too
How can the words of ignorant mouths
And the punches of envious fists
Burn her to char
Right under your feet?
She is shrinking away
Withered and weak
Delicate, small
Overpowered so easily
She is disappearing
Strong, she was..

They hide from her rage
They stumble on her revenge
Her tears soak their bodies
Until they sink
Scary, she is
Funny to think, such a happy girl
Could be so angry

What you didn’t see
What you never knew
The punches inside
Are what gets to you
Even she needs to rest
To stand once again
The girls that smile
Know how to forgive
She does

Being vulnerable is daring
She is
Risky, brave
Even in a room by herself
Soaking the sheets
Even with swollen eyes
And ruby red cheeks
How do you think
She became
The woman you see
Now do you get it?
Even she cries sometimes

Why haven’t you?
