Hard Times
Where do all the hard times go
When they are hard to remember
Do they fade in Winter’s cold
Or to Heaven’s sweet surrender
And sometimes when I miss their kicks
Their bruises played in songs
Flashbacks inked without a future
To that place where I belonged
I’ll have a silent cry to a lullaby
To the hard times that I let go
With all its pain and utter shame
Now for Heaven to only know
When they are hard to remember
Do they fade in Winter’s cold
Or to Heaven’s sweet surrender
And sometimes when I miss their kicks
Their bruises played in songs
Flashbacks inked without a future
To that place where I belonged
I’ll have a silent cry to a lullaby
To the hard times that I let go
With all its pain and utter shame
Now for Heaven to only know
