Two poets and a train.
If you
ever find love
in all those
empty,
bitter spaces
All those lonely
little places..
of just a memory..
Take the
A-train down a bumpy
winding street..
and sail through
the lovely
slums with me.
Together..
we sway and
drift
side by side
in a docile gaze..
A crowded car.
Another
New York night
spellbound with
scattered stars.
All I need is whiskey..
your soulful blue eyes will
fix me..
in a kiss so sweet
you’ll miss me.
A dusty old record..
in an upstairs attic..
full of aching
tender sores.
Forgotten,
jaded boxes..
the one’s
families tend to
ignore..
Over ..
true and true..
I remember hearing
the sounds of you.
Footsteps creaking fast..
in the night meant for..
lovers dancing
past.
Somber corpses
discovered
reconciled..
at last.
I recall..
the wondrous thrill
of it all..
when..
your love..
filled my..
empty, bitter spaces..
all those sad..
lonely, little traces..
of just..
a memory.
