Daydreams (the winds have changed)
She stared into the distance
beyond my beating heart;
invisible in the forefront of her dreams
we are lost in the moments left behind
as sands of time turn ashes into dust
stripping dusty details from the surfaces
past peels the paint from the playhouse walls
without the slightest effort at all
whether the weather weathers them more
or the weight of the world pulls the walls to the floor
time tells the tale that we can't tell ourselves
as we gaze through the shade of the worlds on our shelves
that we create and destroy behind half-closed eyes
as nostalgia steals the time from our unlived lives.
lazily lying our lives away under our own breath
as we dazily daydream our days away to death
beyond my beating heart;
invisible in the forefront of her dreams
we are lost in the moments left behind
as sands of time turn ashes into dust
stripping dusty details from the surfaces
past peels the paint from the playhouse walls
without the slightest effort at all
whether the weather weathers them more
or the weight of the world pulls the walls to the floor
time tells the tale that we can't tell ourselves
as we gaze through the shade of the worlds on our shelves
that we create and destroy behind half-closed eyes
as nostalgia steals the time from our unlived lives.
lazily lying our lives away under our own breath
as we dazily daydream our days away to death
