Sweet September
I walk the streets beneath the lights
With shouts from the window panes
And the pain I feel seems at home
Under the neon and falling rain
And the church bell rings a song
Of a long forgotten love
Kick a can and curse the night
For bringing me the memory of
There’s nothing but ghost to chase
No more lies to remember
Just the memory of lost love
And the song of sweet September
Dry your eyes on the setting sun
Pray forgetting lasts forever
The memories of lost love
And the song of sweet September
I run my mouth in a stranger’s ear
With tales and big shot lies
And the road that walks me home tonight
Holds my hand when I close my eyes
So I’ll dance a two step with my thoughts
as the music fades away
Because Tomorrow’s only promise
Is that tomorrow will be the same
With shouts from the window panes
And the pain I feel seems at home
Under the neon and falling rain
And the church bell rings a song
Of a long forgotten love
Kick a can and curse the night
For bringing me the memory of
There’s nothing but ghost to chase
No more lies to remember
Just the memory of lost love
And the song of sweet September
Dry your eyes on the setting sun
Pray forgetting lasts forever
The memories of lost love
And the song of sweet September
I run my mouth in a stranger’s ear
With tales and big shot lies
And the road that walks me home tonight
Holds my hand when I close my eyes
So I’ll dance a two step with my thoughts
as the music fades away
Because Tomorrow’s only promise
Is that tomorrow will be the same
