Perseverance

No one sees the battle going on inside,
No one recognizes the twists the turns you make.
Think they know you do they?
They haven't scratched the surface yet.

They think you're crazy,
They think you're out for something more.
But no one sees the inside,
No one notices the war.

That's just it though,
They treat you like glass,
And that's what you become.
They push and push,
Until you come undone.

They expect you to be pure,
They expect you to be true.
But with all that, they've created,
How can they expect you too?

So there you'll be,
While the world around you thrives,
You'll slowly start to crumble.
Then it stops,
And you breathe.

The trials they put you through,
They mean nothing.
Just take a breath,
And keep on running.

The war you're fighting,
It's far from being won,
Keep you're head up little soldier,
Only you can say when you're done.

Checkmate society,
You thought you had me beat.
I've walked through hell for years now,
You couldn't last a day with my feet.
