an ocean everywhere,
invisible like outer space,
the ether's sacred lair

with turbid oscillations
exhaust pipes, chimneys too
spewing dangerous particles
breathed in by me and you...

every time we think we know
everything worthwhile
the universe surprises us
with a wink or smile

with rivers flowing underground
like arteries in earth
streaming through the darkness
unheard their babbling mirth...

of deserts without rain
bringing life to nothingness
