A Series of Haiku Made Into One Poem
I
Sweet and hot poison,
Sing me the loudest whisper
As I close my eyes.
Sleep! Tell me I sleep!
I have fallen at the door
Of the stars that fade.
Will you kiss me now
A single leaf on my grave?
The wind is silent.
Silence and shadow:
We have spoken once before
Of depths in the dark.
II
Solitary shore...
I hear a lone robin sing.
Take me by the hand;
I long for your touch.
Even if only in dreams
That this nectar gives.
Silently raining,
The sea calms: Quiet thunder
As the west now fades.
I see you always:
An angel so beautiful,
Sailing far away.
Sweet and hot poison,
Sing me the loudest whisper
As I close my eyes.
Sleep! Tell me I sleep!
I have fallen at the door
Of the stars that fade.
Will you kiss me now
A single leaf on my grave?
The wind is silent.
Silence and shadow:
We have spoken once before
Of depths in the dark.
II
Solitary shore...
I hear a lone robin sing.
Take me by the hand;
I long for your touch.
Even if only in dreams
That this nectar gives.
Silently raining,
The sea calms: Quiet thunder
As the west now fades.
I see you always:
An angel so beautiful,
Sailing far away.
