I Wish I Was a Butterfly (for I Wish I Was Comp)

“I almost wish we were butterflies and liv'd but three summer days - three such days with you I could fill with more delight than fifty common years could ever contain.”
― John Keats, Bright Star: Love Letters and Poems of John Keats to Fanny Brawne

i wish i was a butterfly
from one of Keats' favorite lines
bright colors catch my lover's eye
my wings' flutters mimic my heart

a short sweet life i would lead
a fortnight worth of living free
gliding softly where kind winds lead
and rest on petals of the softest weave

no rain nor snow trouble me
as i live a lifetime of a summer week
a little tipsy from the scented air
of flower extracts, sweet pungent smells

i wish i was a butterfly
from one of Keats' favorite lines
one of my own favorite lines
and dance to my love's amative rhymes

were death may opt to knock the door
entombed in our wings we invite the claws
entwined and wrapped close
so close...as butterflies
