Mighty Oak of a friend
There was an oak tree alongside of me, beside my youth and windows. Curious wonders frolicked it's autumn leaves, as I dreamt of tricycles upon it's crimson and aurous pillows. I asked it's name and friends we became, to the winds and earth he told. An old tire was hung, songs was sung as he said.. "Smile for me and all you need do is take hold."
Beneath it's green, initialled hearts on bark, did first kiss abound and sound. In a mid of day, there it was through happy leaves, that summers love was found.
Acorns amongst tiny feet, fallen gifts for my children's treasures, trunks of giggles in glee. He spoke to them and taught...." what matters most in life is given with heart and free." Through windows time, I watched my friend love unto them, the same as he did for me. They've learned as did I, to love and nurture nature and to always let it be.
Years have grown old to the brittle of bone yet so mighty is the oak and wise. I walk my last, towards his invite of branch, hearing him creak and sigh... "Come sit with me in shade my dear boy"... Seeing the dimming of tired eyes.
"Life was lived as best I did my old friend"... to him did I lean and cry.
"That you did my boy, now smile for me once more and take hold"..as I look up through familiar leaves reaching the sky.. "and Know I am seeded here with you, even to... the very end of lifes goodbyes."
