weeping willow ♪s o n g♪

i
give me a place
to hide the tears
of weeping hearts
i’ve found along the way
i must admit
a thousand times
the fountains of
my very own full spray

ii
but when i see
the swelling of
the bosoms of
my burden-bearing friends
i must collect
their sobs and sighs
and lullabies
and burn them ‘neath the lens

iii
where willow weeps
as cool winds blow
in piteous strife
emotional logjams
too heavy on
my shoulders fall
but i am strong
the winds know who i am

iv
find me the still
deep silver flow
with its own tears
whose thirst no teardrop river
can ever sate
tho’ drinks he full
what willow reaps
from every wounded giver

v
yet unperturbed
in lethargy
he slithers far
beyond my elegy
to sleep upon
the salted sea
a hopeful song
comes from my willow tree

vi
close to her breast
when i am spent
in need of rest
i cleave as to my pillow
when river song
is dead and gone
peace i shall find
beneath my weeping willow
