Conflicted

I looked behind me in fright
To rest my eyes on the sight

Of every hour past,
Growing nearer to my last

Peering through the glass,
I teared up and stood aghast

Fearing time moves too fast,
Haunting memories amassed

Regret inside my head vast

...I let it pass

That was not the place or the hour
To wear a sad face and cower

I need to feel empowered,
Not be a delicate flower

Must stand tall as a tower
When dark thoughts roll in and shower

I won't let my will sour

...And be devoured

Or maybe I'll just surrender,
Return that confidence to sender

Put my legs through a blender,
Accept that I'll be prone rendered

Defiance, my sole defender,
Lets down its guard when I remember

Death's whisper so tender

...I let it enter
