INKlings10

INKling no10—marriage

“A successful marriage requires falling in love many times,
always with the same person.”— Mignon McLaughlin

do not sly fetters fashion of i love you:
let freedom be your bond, that time may prove you
to be the marriage architects
whose gentle acumen reflects
a concord of
conjugal hearts
no wind of change
can tear apart.
to fall in love
a thousand times
of reason makes
resounding rhymes
when to one heart love’s fortitude
constrains you others to preclude.
the gift exalts the one who gives;
one dies so that the next might live.
