Upon the wind

Verse 1
Some upon the wind they float
Propellers spinning down to earth
The sycamore that scatters seeds all round about
Conceved a sapling just like that

Verse 2
That spirits flight
And not see its shortened days
That autumn times, the equinox
The fall from grace of gloried summers splay

Chorus  1
Piles of trunks in the logging truck
Stripped the bark, gone the woodpeckers hutch
Fortunes made by root and branch
They that felled the statuesque
Raise till just the roots protrude
Nothing left where the forest stood
The rape the green man always feels
Just commerce and its growing fields

Verse 3
Who will quell the fires hold
Rain forest feels the draught of cold
Where longevity for the planets breath
The  torch will choke us all to death
And CO2 will kill as was foretold

Verse 4
For yonder lies that chasm of uncertanty
Our heads stuck in the sands of apathy
We were the one and only enemy
And nature lives by not word but deed
For now ours to suffer. just the same as she

 Chourus 2
Piles of trunks in the logging truck
Stripped bark, gone the woodpeckers hutch
Fortunes made by root and branch
Cut and run and leave just barren ground
Raise till just the roots protrude
Nothing left where the forest stood
The rape the green man always feels
The seeds we sow of selfish deeds

Verse 5
Now the time to hug that tree
Revel in its canopy
Its heart rings always multiply
Its sap of wisdom never dry

Repeat from start
