Letting Go

Today I learned to let go of what I thought should be
And then I gained a  better part of me
 
I found freedom with my open hand
No more tethered by my own demands
 
I let go of my wishes and wanting for more
I let go of all those things I once adored
 
My new found loss is actually a gain
A freedom of choice and free of pain
 
I let go of the desires and the need to be
And found my own serenity
 
Today I learned to let go of what I thought should be
And that is what has set me free
