Wallflower

If I were just a plain wallflower
I probably wouldn’t bloom
I’d sit on a shelf somewhere
Gathering dust in your room

You’d walk by me without a thought
Not even a glance my way
You probably wouldn’t think of me
Not like I do of you everyday

Seems I’m always the one hearing
But I’m never the one who’s heard
Maybe wallflowers don’t talk that much
I can never seem to fit in a word

You’d tell me of all your endeavors
And I’d listen so tentatively
But when thoughts of me arise
To you, I am only what you see

A wallflower left all too forgotten
Though I never had a chance to say
But if walls could talk, they’d never stop
It can be said we are luckier this way

But if you happen to take me down
From the wall upon which I reside
And ponder over my petals, my leaves
Will you finally keep me by your side?
