{Just To Write}

If my love were something tangible
And I could see it in the air
I would let it wrap all around us
Like it’s something I can share

If my love were something visible
I would see it as a thin smoke
Dark and coiling tendrils around us
It could very well make you choke

But it doesn’t have to be that way
If you learn to breathe at this elevation
But at this very height of my love
It could be your biggest revelation

To let the smoke build into a cloud
Unaffected by the ugly side of this world
And soft enough cushion your landings
If only, if only — my love could unfurl

If my love were something breakable
It would be like bulletproof glass
My love would be strong and sturdy
Much different from my darker contrasts

If my love were something liquid
It would flow deep in all of your veins
It would be able to fill up your beating heart
And wash away anything that remains

However, my love is not liquid, it is not glass
I cannot hold onto it or let it coil around us
Though my love is strong, a mind all it’s own
It carries me like a river, I just have to trust
