Funeral Tears

Everyone grieves differently but you’re right; a funeral should be a celebration of the persons existence by highlighting the many qualities &  joys that the said person was able to proffer to their loved ones; both family and friends whilst on the physical plane and living.

I believe those who’ve passed, never quite leave and will oft emerge in our dreams, or through other ways to make their presence known and felt.

My grandmother passed 12 years ago, and sometimes, I can smell her perfume for a brief moment; which is oft followed by me seeing her in a dream; either before and after.

Thankfully I haven't recently lost anyone, but with this being Fathers Day it is a sad day for my wife, who lost her father 4 years ago and still grieves today. At the time I tried to instill in her my "philosophy" but as you say, everybody grieves differently

Well I know that it is hard to do, but for me I have done both at a funeral.  I quite agree with you, we should rejoice when the loved one leaves, it's just when it happens, everyone mourns differently because of the relationship they had to the one that is laid to rest.  Frankly, I pray that my loved ones have a party, cause I'm having one when I leave here.

Absolutely love this poem. It’s my same exact feeling every time I’ve had to go to a funeral. Everyone handles death a different way. The way you express how if we keep our happy thoughts then our loved ones will forever be near.
