Tortoise ME Naked!

She said deflect, betrayal, & lie
Just a tortoise, I just tried to fit in.
Dragons like turtles, rarely die,
we live in solitude, Hidden.

Alone, Powerful, Majestic in the quiet of a cave
Lonely, almost self-sufficient, polished within my shell
Our relationship, we together could save.
How long will it take? Only time would tell.

I shed my shell so my nakedness She'd see
while I longed for Her fiery death
But She dealt my shell back to me
smothered my want with airless breath.

Dragons like tortoises live near forever
in the quiet of a hurtful hearth.
But my love for Her will never
leave the coffer of my open heart.

* *********************************************

If we become engrossed
with the redecoration of
our shell. . .
. . .then more and more
will we have difficulty
in polishing our turtle.
