Open Veins

Tearing arteries meant to hold life
Slicing the membrane to prevent growth
Pooling velvet across the sheets
This organ ceases to once more beat

The sound of metal across the flesh
The glistening blade pristine in excellence
Plunge into the cavity of the chest
Let the bleeding do the rest

A wail of sorrow penetrates the air
A terrible sound to the fairest of fair
The poor soul is crying tears of red
Remembering that they can't be dead

The fingertips filled with frostbitten lace
Hands shaking cold attempting to trace
The feelings that were so beautiful, pure
Now buried inside this emotionless cur.
