The Prayer.
I swam down the river to pray,
my mind had wandered unafraid, and we hadn't spoken in a while,
I watched the river go on for miles.
My heart it drummed as before
when in sheet rain I knocked at your door
and you let me in, you stripped my clothes,
you bathed my wrists and warmed my toes.
I gave you stories of my youth,
to carry with you - I gave my truth,
I buried in you all my sins,
I shed scars from many skins.
In the darkness, I prayed to you,
under the whiteness, under the blue,
sunk fingers deep within my whole
abandoned you, cleansed my soul.
I sung old songs of our death,
until voice broke, no more breath.
I sang the songs until silence came
until Sun she rose - I forgot your name.
I took my body from river to home,
knowing now, on Earth, alone I roam
telling tales of love without you there -
it was a running end to our affair.
my mind had wandered unafraid, and we hadn't spoken in a while,
I watched the river go on for miles.
My heart it drummed as before
when in sheet rain I knocked at your door
and you let me in, you stripped my clothes,
you bathed my wrists and warmed my toes.
I gave you stories of my youth,

I buried in you all my sins,
I shed scars from many skins.
In the darkness, I prayed to you,
under the whiteness, under the blue,

abandoned you, cleansed my soul.
