Come Again
I hear your familiar voice
echo through the night
and when I close my tired eyes
I see that you’re alive
clinging onto you
like I hold old postcards
old letters
making sure you never leave
and making sure to read those letters
in case I lose them
in case I lose you
perpetual daydreams
lost in journals
can’t wake up
since that ceremony
were you here before?
will you come again?
do deaths rivers always flow
because of rain
or by their choice?
slipping back
I see your name
if it’s in stone then I know
you weren’t pretending
losing myself to my own handwriting
you weren’t pretending
you were here before
because I can’t forget you
echo through the night
and when I close my tired eyes
I see that you’re alive
clinging onto you
like I hold old postcards
old letters
making sure you never leave
and making sure to read those letters
in case I lose them
in case I lose you
perpetual daydreams
lost in journals
can’t wake up
since that ceremony
were you here before?
will you come again?
do deaths rivers always flow
because of rain
or by their choice?
slipping back
I see your name
if it’s in stone then I know
you weren’t pretending
losing myself to my own handwriting
you weren’t pretending
you were here before
because I can’t forget you
