You tell me
I can’t imagine leaving this town without you
But in the same breath
Complain about how hard it is to pack
I’m not sure what you really means by this
But I smile and I laugh
And I don’t tell you
I can’t imagine leaving this life without you
So I’ll stay
And I’ll mourn
And maybe cry a little bit.
I’ll recite a eulogy I wrote for us at your going away party
because I know this is the end.
I know you’ll find some light eyed pretty girl
When you’re away
And I know when you visit
you won’t make me a priority
You’ll bring her to hang out with your friends
And you’ll smile and you’ll laugh
And I’ll still be mourning
Rereading this eulogy
because this is the last good thing I’ll ever write.
