reunion (old dreams)

of dalliance and of daring
of hot pursuits and leering
       of steeplechase
     and random haste
of these i have been sparing

of hungering and thirsting
of aches i have been nursing
     of sleepless nights
     uncivil rights
of these i have been bursting

old silences now shattered
old love once bruised and battered
     old spirits dead
     where live instead
old dreams we knew not mattered…

Author's Note
My reunion (old dreams) does not necessarily represent a decisive moment of my personal life. However, I know it metaphors an epigraph on the pages of many lives. Take it for what it is worth: is not the ideal experience to return to the place we (thought we) once knew and to know the place for the first time? T. S. Eliott's epigram ("We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.") epigraphs this epigram with poignant relevance, don't you think?
