Joy is far from me
Away I look to the city lights
Smoking a cancer into the night
Hoping it will make me free
But joy is far from me
She talks away after making love
Dressed in silk as dove
She is all that a woman can be
Yet joy is still far from me
I work the day away
From night till the break of day
I feel free and gay
Do I really think this is the way?
Love takes the pain away
For me she sits and prays
I hope she'll be there till the end of days
Perhaps this may be the way
Her smile lights my soul
Her breath takes my own
Her patience is that from old
Her voice my eternal home
If it be she goes away
My heart will bleed a river away
My joy will be away from me
From life to death I'll be.
Smoking a cancer into the night
Hoping it will make me free
But joy is far from me
She talks away after making love
Dressed in silk as dove
She is all that a woman can be
Yet joy is still far from me
I work the day away
From night till the break of day
I feel free and gay
Do I really think this is the way?
Love takes the pain away
For me she sits and prays
I hope she'll be there till the end of days
Perhaps this may be the way
Her smile lights my soul
Her breath takes my own
Her patience is that from old
Her voice my eternal home
If it be she goes away
My heart will bleed a river away
My joy will be away from me
From life to death I'll be.
