YOUNG GIRL
When I was a young girl the only thing I knew was being second best.
I was never able to keep up with the rest.
My friends and family left me in the dust
My heart turned stone cold.
And like metal, it began to rust.
No foundation of trust.
The only constant was this boy.
I would wait by the phone for hours on end.
When his message would light up my screen,
All of the anguish would vanish.
