8 months ago we sat
Knees touching
At a cafe in downtown
Talking about everything
That wasn’t actually important
Shaking bones
Charting maps on each other's hands
Nothing felt quite like this
These days I sit
Knees touching
These days I sit
And my thighs aren’t as big
As they used to be
I wish you would’ve told me
Told me it was going to be like this
Shaking hands
Charting maps on empty on empty tables
Pretending they weren’t empty tables
It’s worse these days
My ribs look like the cage
I was never freed from
I wonder if you open the lock
Will my heart look as broken
As it feels?
I wonder
Does my heart look as broken
As it feels?
