Fortress

My fingers hover just above your wrist
Longing to touch, to trace
But It’s just a mirage with a twist
I’m really sitting here at my place

I’m breathing in
And I’m breathing out
Watching hands
that aren’t your hands
March in circles on a face
that isn’t your face

And it's killing me
And it's killing you
Cause I wish you were here
And it's killing me
And it's killing you
Cause you wish I was there
But we can make a fortress
On the weekend

My toes dip into the icy lake
Balancing  on the ripples
You leave in your wake
Droplets trickle into riddles

I’m standing up
Then I’m sitting down
Hearing voices
that aren’t your voice
they call out my name
but it’s not your name

And it's killing me
And it's killing you
Cause I wish you were here
And it's killing me
And it's killing you
Cause you wish I was there
But we can make a fortress
On the weekend

My eyes linger a little too long
Taking in all I see, making it a song
Words turn into bricks
As I build the week ticks

I’m building up
And making strong
This fortress tall
This fortress long
It takes days to build, 5
It need to last for only 2

And it's killing me
And it's killing you
Cause I wish you were here
And it's killing me
And it's killing you
Cause you wish I was there
But we can make a fortress
On the weekend

We can make a fortress
To hold it all in
