Unanswerable questions

Scanning through the pages.
The words releasing you from the cage,
dissolving the rage.

A sanctuary hidden in space.
A place for me to retrace my life.
Drifting through the memories.
How far back can I see?

Who were we before we were born?

Before we entered life here on earth,
where were we before our birth?
I imagine a strange place of pure mirth.
Lost in time
No beginning, no end.

This trip to the human world you cannot resend.
On other people and material goods you cannot depend.

Is this just a loop of eternal existence?
A never-ending game, playing different characters, an infinite number of faces and forms of being,
And here we are, right now experiencing being.

Is this the eternal return I am seeing?
Have we been here before?
How much more is in store for us?

Of course these questions are not for you to answer.
Nor are they for me to answer.
For, we do not have the answers.
We never have and we never will.
Even though we still
ask questions and hypothesize and theorize and conceptualize,
We have yet to realize
what our purpose is here.
And at the same time we have yet to ask ourselves, is there a purpose?
Should there even be a purpose?
Why should this life have a meaning?
What even is meaning?
More rhetorical questions that no one knows the answers to including myself.

But really what are we looking for?
And what are we hoping to find?
These questions and the possible answers are truly beyond our ability to understand, still we're wandering through time on this strange inhabited land,
Not sure what it is that we should do.
Just be you is what I say.
Just do that every day.
A purpose I can envision, if you wish to call it that, would be to take care of our planet and ourselves.
Just love and care for the world you are apart of.

My own personal purpose of course.
What is yours?
